400 silent disco headsets and only 2 went missing
This year we chose the Olympic park as the venue for Amazon summer party and took over Hopkins Field in Mid-July. We quickly found out that the site was just an empty field so we set about turning it into a space suitable for our mini day festival.
We built perimeter fences, brought in generators, 100’s of meters of cabling, hard standing matting, toilet trailers and water containers. A selection of white marquees surrounded the space, and we filled them with a mix of pallet furniture, picnic tables and enough tassel bunting to dress a small town!
Next we added 12 street food stalls and vans serving pie and mash, hotdogs, burgers, chicken and mac & cheese , 4 bars, a silent disco with the Disco Bug, a kids play area, an airstream photo booth, giant garden games and loads of walkabout entertainment including flash tattoo artists, fortune tellers and kids story tellers.
We also setup a live music stage and brought in an array of acts from ukulele players to cover bands to brass bands, keeping the crowd dancing till the sun went down.
