Trinity Buoy Wharf
We suspended a Christmas tree 20ft in the air
The architect firm Heatherwick Studio approached us via the venue, The Chain Store at Trinity Buoy Wharf, to plan their Christmas staff party.
The riverside venue with perfect views of the O2, is an impressive party venue with one large warehouse space with high ceilings and 5m tall wharf doors. The clients brief was to keep it simple, with an industrial feel and Nordic influences.
We split the room in two, one half for the drinks reception and dancing and the other half for a seated dinner; we built a 4m square steel deck bar to separate the two areas. Above the bar we installed a real 3m Christmas tree, suspended by chains from the rafters.
The dining area was set up for communal dining, with long rustic wooden tables and benches. The benches were dressed with faux fur sheep skins and the table centres were kept simple with ivy garlands, church candles and pine cones.
Guests travelled by boat from the west end, so after a chilly journey they enjoyed a mulled wine and beer reception followed by a sharing menu of roast chicken and all the trimmings. After dinner guests danced the night away before drinking the bar dry.
